Stay up to date on all of the MAR upcoming events!
MAR is implementing shared agreements for all of our meeting spaces. These are not “rules” to follow, but agreements that we all have with each other to maintain a protected and respectful space for all attendees and facilitators. These agreements will be discussed at the start of every meeting/event to help set the tone and intent of the discussion. As these are shared agreements, they are not static and are subject to change; feel free to bring forward any agreement that you would like to share.
Shared Agreements:
- Speak honestly
- Believe people if they voice that they have been harmed
- The MAR EB acknowledges the stark difference between: 1) legitimate harm, which elicits and compounds the trauma of lifetimes and generations of oppression; and 2) feelings of discomfort, which may result from being held accountable for causing harm. We acknowledge that likening the two is oppressive and unethical.
- Have a moment of reflexivity and consider “Why am I saying this?” before speaking
- Be aware of time
- Welcome and respect all voices regardless of age and experience.
- Leave room for other voices.
