Job Description:

The Music Department at California State University San Bernardino is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Music Therapy. We are looking for someone with the vision to create a quality music therapy program. The department will offer a BA in music therapy degree beginning in Fall of 2024. This is a 10-month position (fall/spring semesters) with potential opportunity for teaching during the summer.

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

Teach courses within the music therapy discipline as assigned
Hold office hours per music department requirements
Attend faculty meetings as required
Serve on departmental, college, and university committees
Advise music therapy majors
Recruit students to the music therapy program
Develop innovative courses in music therapy
Research and write within the music therapy discipline for publication
Enrich the student experience with opportunities in the field
Other duties as assigned
Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

PhD in Music Therapy from an accredited University/College is required
Record of some classroom teaching at the college level in Music Therapy discipline is required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Clinical experience in music therapy is preferred
Record of ongoing research and publication within the music therapy discipline
Three years of classroom teaching experience at the college level is preferred
Record of ongoing creative and professional activities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate
Record of supporting diverse students in teaching
Record of collaboration with the sciences/nursing within the music therapy discipline
Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application.
