Amanda Montera, MMT, MT-BC, is a young professional who completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at Temple University. She lives in Philadelphia and has spent the first few years of her career working with older adults with dementia, and is now in hospice care. She bases her clinical work around the evolving philosophy of community music therapy and focuses on bringing joy and quality of life to her patients. She has most recently served on the MAR-AMTA board as your treasurer, and now is transitioning to president-elect. She was also recently elected to serve as treasurer of the World Federation of Music Therapy (WFMT). When she isn’t working, she is most likely to be found playing disc golf.
As per the MAR-AMTA Bylaws, Article III, Section 1, the President shall: preside at all meetings of the Region; call and preside at all meetings of the Executive Board; be ex officio member of all committees except the Nominating Committee; be a representative to the Assembly of Delegates; make all designated appointments subject to the approval of the Executive Board; perform all other duties commensurate with the stated purpose of the organization; communicate with, advise, and guide corresponding student officer; establish and/or maintain a handbook outlining job responsibilities; and submit an annual written report at the regional conference.
