Fall 2022 Mini-Conference: Online
HELLO MAR-AMTA!!!!
The MAR-AMTA Executive Board is pleased to announce we will be having a virtual “Mini-Conference” on Saturday November 5th, 2022 from 8am-4:30pm! The event will be held on Crowdcast, our virtual conference platform used for previous conferences.
We are also thrilled to feature Sangeeta Swamy, PhD., LCMHC, MT-BC and Adenike Webb, PhD., MT-BC as our keynote speakers! The Mini-Conference will also feature the previous winners of MAR-AMTA’s “Innovative Spirit Award”, who will present on their innovative work within the music therapy profession.
Keynote Speakers
Sangeeta Swamy, PhD, LCMHC, MT-BC (she/they) is Associate Professor and Co-Chair of the Integral Counseling Program at the California Institute of Integral Studies. A licensed psychotherapist, Board-Certified Music Therapist, and award-winning violinist, Dr. Swamy received her Master of Arts degree from Naropa University in Transpersonal Psychology with a concentration in Music Therapy, and a PhD in Expressive Arts Therapy from Lesley University.
Adenike Webb, PhD, MT-BC is a board-certified music therapist with 20 years of experience. Her clinical work has been mainly in inpatient and outpatient behavioral health settings. She received her undergraduate training in music therapy at Radford University and completed her Masters and PhD in Music Therapy at Temple University.

Innovative Spirit Award Winners
Heidi Lengel, MMT, MT-BC, CD(SBD) is a music therapist, pre-licensed counselor, and certified birth & bereavement doula. She is a certified level one complex trauma specialist and level two EMDR practitioner.
Title of Presentation: Reproductive Music Therapy: Creating Safe Spaces in an Ever-Changing Landscape
Maevon Gumble, MMT, MT-BC is a music therapist and pre-licensed counselor who engages in mental health focused music therapy and talk therapy as well as gender affirming voicework through their private practice Becoming Through Sound LLC.
Title of Presentation: Exploring Gender Affirming Voicework
Natalia Alvarez-Figueroa is a Music Therapist. Afro Latina, born and raised in Puerto Rico, Natalia came to Philadelphia as an undergraduate transfer over 12 years ago. Natalia holds a master’s degree in music therapy and is a board-certified music therapist working in the trauma field since 2012.
Title of Presentation: Nuanced experiences of a Queer Afro Latina, Creating and Facilitating Multi-Modal Course for White Aspiring Allies within Helping Professions; and Exploration Beyond Binary Thinking and Automatic Thoughts, from First Person Perspective.

Professionals: $100
Students: $50

Individuals who register will be able to receive 8 CMTE credits for attending Registration will CLOSE on NOVEMBER 1st, 2022 at midnight so please register prior to October 31st, 2022 at 11:59pm. There are no prerequisites required in order to register.

The deadlines for refunds are specified by the Vice President for Conference Planning. Any exceptions to the refund schedule must be approved by the Vice President for Conference Planning and usually involve a personal or medical crisis.
- Full Refund: until October 1
- 50% Refund: until two weeks before the mini-conference
- No refund: two weeks before the mini-conference
Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email stating you will receive directions and the password to access the CrowdCast platform.
If you would like to volunteer as a moderator, please fill out this google form (Google Form). We will need a minimum of 8 volunteers, and a max of 10. There are training and technology requirements listed at the top of the google form. The first 8 individuals who volunteer their time will receive a free registration to the mini-conference.
