Statement for MAR-AMTA Community

  • Post category:News

The Department of Homeland Security recently released a National Terrorism Advisory that warns of heightened violence against LGBTQIA+, Jewish, and migrant communities. The MAR-AMTA Executive Board recognizes that this increased threat against those groups deeply affects members of our music therapy community. We are mindful that this comes at a time of year when many communities celebrate holidays and that this threat overshadows what should rightfully be a time of restoration, rejuvenation, and peace. We would like to offer our heartfelt compassion and empathy to all, as this affects everyone in our society – not only those who are members of the aforementioned communities under threat.

Please reach out to Clarissa Lacson, Vice President for Membership at vpmembership@maramta.org if you would like us to organize an online space to come together for mutual support. If you would like a closed meeting space for your community, we will do our best to facilitate this in a way that honors your experience.
