NYSTF held their 2nd Hill Day in Albany on Monday, 3/25/19. New initiatives this year included having 8 NY MTs serve as Team Leaders for our meetings and 12 exhibitors (schools and agencies). A very exciting moment occurred when a large portion of our group was invited by Assemblywoman Jo Anne Simon (D; District 52 – Brooklyn), representative for Team Leader Toby Williams, to the Assembly chamber to observe budget appropriations voting, and we were introduced by Assemblywoman Crystal D. Peoples-Stokes (D; District 141 – Erie County/Buffalo; Majority Leader). Watch this moment here:
Within 3 days of our event (which happened during budget week!) we had secured 2 additional Assembly co-sponsors and 3 additional Senate co-sponsors. Advocacy works!
