New Jersey Bill Passed in Assembly!

NJ BILL PASSED IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY!!

ONE DOWN

In the continuing process to get a New Jersey state license for music therapists, The Music Therapist Licensing Act, A783 was voted on and passed in the New Jersey General Assembly on November 21, 2016 by a vote of 59 to 13. We also had two additional sponsors who signed on before the vote, Assemblyman Raj Mukherji as Primary Sponsor and Assemblyman Jamel C. Holley as Co-Sponsor. This made for a total of 6 Primary Sponsors and 10 Co-Sponsors. The New Jersey State Task Force (NJSTF) is grateful to all the other sponsors as well who helped us win this groundbreaking vote: Primary Sponsors Assemblymen Bob Andrzejczak; Gordon M. Johnson; Daniel R. Benson; Assemblywoman Elizabeth Maher Muoio; and Assemblyman Bruce R. Land. Co-Sponsors Assemblywoman Pamela R. Lampitt; Assemblymen Jack M. Ciattarelli; Vincent Mazzeo; Assemblywoman Mila M. Jasey; Assemblymen Thomas P. Giblin; Tim Eustace; Sean T. Kean; Assemblywomen Angelica M. Jimenez; and Valerie Vainieri Huttle.

AND ONE TO GO

Legislative progress in the senate has already begun. The identical senate bill, S1601, was released from the Senate Commerce Committee in a hearing on September 26, 2016. The A783/S1601 bill has now been referred to the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee. This will require another hearing, the date of which is to be determined; but WE MARCH ONWARD!
