The MAR-AMTA will once again be awarding scholarships to deserving students and interns within our region. Each year, the MAR-AMTA gives over two thousand dollars to students and interns through a variety of scholarship opportunities.
The MARAMTS Sophomore, Junior and Graduate Scholarships are awarded each year to students who demonstrate commitment to our field through active participation in their Music Therapy Club meetings and activities; interest and involvement in our regional conferences and activities; and, overall academic integrity. Scholarship winners are decided by a team of student judges through a blind review of applications. Recipients are awarded complimentary student membership to the AMTA as well as free registration to our regional conference.
The Jenny Shinn Memorial Scholarship for Music Therapy Interns is presented to three student interns within the MAR-AMTA who have demonstrated scholarly excellence, a strong character and significant service to our field. A team of professional judges (including a Music Therapy educator, internship director and practicing clinician) selects six finalists through a blind review of applications. Finalists are interviewed by the judging panel at the regional conference, where the scholarships are then awarded. Winners receive $500 each to support them in their internship experiences.
MARAMTS also recognizes two Music Therapy Clubs from within our region based on efforts to spread awareness and advocate for our field. Each club receives a $250 award.
More information, including applications for all of these scholarships, can be found on the MAR-AMTA website at http://mar-amta.org/for-students/. Questions about any of the scholarships can be directed to Conio Loretto, MAR Student Affairs Advisor at MARAMTSAdvisor@gmail.com.
