Music Therapy Clinical Supervision: Concepts and Skills for Supervising across the Spectrum of Education and Practice

Untitled1On Saturday, October 3, 2015 Dr. Theresa (Terra) Merrill, will present a workshop, Music Therapy Supervision: Concepts and Skills for Supervising across the Spectrum of Education and Practice. Dr. Merrill is Associate Professor and Director of Music Therapy at Eastern Michigan University. She brings over 25 years of clinical experience in Elder care, end of life care, treatment of Parkinson’s disease and music psychotherapy to her understanding of clinical supervision. She began supervising students in her hospital practice in Vancouver, B.C. She has been a music therapy educator for the past 15 years. Dr. Merrill’s research interests center on best practices in relationships between clinician educators and music therapists and music therapy students. Her dissertation explored positive mentoring relationships between music therapists and she developed the Mentoring program for the Great Lakes Region of the American Music Therapy Association.

This presentation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Sue Shuttleworth Music Therapy Clinic (Rm 103) in the Swope Music Building at Slippery Rock University, first floor. (Registration begins at 8:45 a.m.) This presentation is open to all professional music therapists who would like to attend.
